This article explains the timeline of the billing cycle for community solar subscribers in the Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) utility region.
- Your solar farm generates electricity throughout the month.
- This electricity flows onto the utility grid as clean, local energy, which makes the overall energy mix cleaner!
- At the end of the month, the utility company reads the meter at the solar farm to see how much total energy was generated.
- Each customer receives the dollar amount of the energy generated by their share in the form of solar credits-- or a discount off of your electric bill.
- Your electrical charges should be reduced by the solar credits, but you still need to pay your utility company taxes and fees for getting that electricity to you!
- Your utility company tells us how much you received in solar credits and we bill you for these credits minus your contracted discount.
- You are guaranteed to save a minimum of 5% off of your total utility charges per month-- please ask us how much you are saving on your monthly electric charges!
