How quickly will I see the financial benefits of subscribing to community solar?

It depends on the status of your community solar farm. If the community solar farm is already generating power, you could see community solar credits on your electricity bill within 2-3 billing cycles.

If your farm is already live and generating solar credits:

Since you don't pay for the community solar credits until you have already seen them appear on your utility bill, and you don't see them appear on your utility bill until you have actually used the electricity your solar credits are covering, there is a bit of a delay. Due to this billing cycle, it is completely normal not to see credits until 3 months after you subscribe to community solar, even if your community solar farm is already generating credits when you sign up.

If your farm is not yet generating solar credits:

If the community solar farm is not yet generating credits, waiting times will depend on the construction timeline. In many cases, the community solar farm you are subscribed to may still need to finish construction, so it could be a while until you start to see your community solar credits. Community solar farms have limited availability so it's important to lock in your savings early, even if you end up waiting a while after subscribing.  It takes a lot of time and coordination between parties (the solar developers, financiers, engineering and construction team, and the electric utility) to get a community solar farm up and running.

As soon as your farm is connected to the grid by a utility provider, the billing cycle starts at which point you can expect to start seeing credits appear on your utility bill approximately 3 months later, reducing your total cost owed to your utility.

Your MySolar account will have the construction phase of your community solar farm listed and we send emails with important updates. You can also keep an eye on our social media (like Facebook and Instagram)  to get the latest information on your solar farm's status.
